چکیده

Abstract This paper estimates the effect on innovation of increased market access facilitated by trade liberalization. We use a novel empirical design that exploits tariff cuts during 1990s, along with detailed data among firms from 65 countries. Our results reveal large as measured patent data, suggesting multilateral liberalization has promoted and growth. These effects are not driven deterioration quality, robust to controlling for changes in system industry-wide trends innovation.

This paper investigates the effect of improved market access on worldwide innovation. Using exogenous changes in tariffs in firms’ export markets during the 1990s, we find a large effect of tariff cuts on innovation as measured by patent data. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Convergence Rates for Least-Squares Regression

We consider the optimization of a quadratic objective function whose gradients are only accessible through a stochastic oracle that returns the gradient at any given point plus a zero-mean finite variance random error. We present the first algorithm that achieves jointly the optimal prediction error rates for least-squares regression, both in terms of forgetting the initial conditions in O(1/n)...
